RV跟缩小版的房子一样，大体可分为自行式与拖挂式两种，自行式房车又可分为自行式A型、B型、C型，拖挂式房车可分为拖挂式A型、B型、C型、D型、移动别墅，房车一般都有卧室，装了座厕、盥洗台、浴缸的卫生间，客厅，开放式厨房。客厅里两边都有大窗，方便随时随地欣赏路上的风景，地上铺着浅黄色的地毯，奶黄的软包内壁再配以原木装饰，确实有一种家的味道。“房子”里面还配备空调、液晶电视、VCD、冰箱、微波炉、煤气炉、热水器等电器。电器的启动，完全依赖交流发电机提供电源，在有外接电源的情况下，就由外接电源取代。同时，车上还装备了许多安全设施，包括LPG(液化石油气)检测器、CO报警器、烟雾报警器、紧急出口、灭火器、安全带等，可谓麻雀虽小，五脏俱全。
